Student Support – Terms of Service

Last updated: February 2, 2026

1. Who we are and how these terms work

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of StudentSupport.ca and any services we provide (collectively, “Student Support”). By accessing or using our website or services, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and the applicable terms and policies of any third‑party services we offer access to (such as ProWritingAid, Aaptiv, Nimbus, or others we may add later).

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use Student Support.

When we say:

  • “Student Support”, “we”, “us”, or “our”, we mean the company operating StudentSupport.ca.
  • “You” or “your” means the individual accessing or using Student Support.
  • “Partner Student Union/Association” means the student union or association that works with us to provide you access to Student Support services.

2. No selling or “stealing” your personal data

We know privacy matters, especially to students. To be clear:

  • We do not sell your personal data to data brokers or advertisers.
  • We do not give third parties permission to use your personal data to build independent marketing profiles unrelated to providing Student Support services.
  • We collect and use personal data only as described in our Privacy Policy and only to:
    • Operate and improve our services
    • Provide you with access to the tools and benefits available through Student Support
    • Communicate with you about your account, access, and related updates
    • Comply with legal obligations

You are always free to stop using Student Support; however, some information may still be retained to comply with law, maintain security, or preserve business records, as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Third‑party services and their terms

Student Support may give you access to services provided by third‑party companies (for example, ProWritingAid, Aaptiv, Nimbus, or similar providers).

  • Each third‑party service has its own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  • When you sign up for, activate, or use a third‑party service through Student Support, you agree to that provider’s terms and policies in addition to these Terms.
  • Those providers are responsible for their own products, data practices, and content. We do not control how they operate, and we are not responsible for their services.

We encourage you to review each provider’s terms and privacy policy before using their service.

4. Tracking tools and analytics (including Google Analytics)

Like many websites, we use cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality and analytics, which may include tools such as Google Analytics (or similar services).

These tools help us:

  • Understand how Student Support is used (e.g., which pages are popular, device types, general usage patterns)
  • Improve performance, usability, and content
  • Detect and prevent abuse or security issues

We do not use analytics tools to see your private work (such as the contents of your assignments) or to identify you personally in a way that is unrelated to providing and improving Student Support, unless specifically described in our Privacy Policy.

You can manage cookies or tracking settings in your browser or device; however, turning off certain cookies may affect how well the site works.

For full details, please see our Privacy Policy.

5. Communication from Student Support and your student union/association

By using Student Support, you agree that:

  • Student Support may contact you by email or other contact information you provide to:
    • Confirm or manage your access
    • Send important service messages (e.g., changes to access, maintenance notices, security updates)
    • Provide information about features, resources, or improvements related to Student Support
  • The Partner Student Union/Association that works with us to provide you access may also communicate with you about:
    • Your eligibility and access to Student Support
    • Union/association updates related to Student Support services
    • Relevant student resources or events linked to your use of Student Support

You can opt out of non‑essential marketing communications, but you may still receive important service or account messages as long as you use Student Support.

6. User content and comments

Parts of the website may allow you to post comments, feedback, or other content (“User Content”).

You agree that:

  • You are responsible for the User Content you post.
  • Your User Content will not infringe any third‑party rights (including copyright, trademark, or privacy rights); will not be defamatory, hateful, harassing, obscene, or illegal; and will not be used to promote unlawful activity.

By posting User Content, you grant Student Support a non‑exclusive, worldwide, royalty‑free license to use, reproduce, adapt, and display that content for the limited purpose of operating, improving, and promoting Student Support (for example, displaying your comment on a blog post or support forum).

We may, but are not obligated to, monitor or remove User Content that we believe violates these Terms or applicable law.

7. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Student Support and/or its licensors own the intellectual property rights in the website and its original content, features, and functionality.
  • You may use the website and its content for your personal, non‑commercial use, subject to these Terms.

You must not:

  • Republish our content elsewhere without permission
  • Sell, rent, or sub‑license our material
  • Reproduce, duplicate, or copy our material for commercial purposes
  • Redistribute our content, except for content we specifically make available for sharing

Any rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by Student Support and its licensors.

8. Links, embedding, and third‑party sites

You may link to our home page or public pages as long as the link:

  • Is not deceptive
  • Does not falsely imply sponsorship, endorsement, or approval by Student Support
  • Fits the context of your site and is lawful

You may not frame or embed our pages in a way that alters the appearance or presentation of our website without our prior written permission.

We are not responsible for content, services, or practices on third‑party websites linked from Student Support.

9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Student Support and its services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We do not guarantee that the website or services will be error‑free, uninterrupted, secure, or meet your specific needs.
  • We exclude all warranties, representations, and conditions (express or implied) relating to Student Support and your use of it, except where we are not allowed to do so under applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to:

  • Limit or exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence
  • Limit or exclude liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Limit any liabilities where limitation is not permitted under applicable law
  • Exclude any liabilities that may not be excluded under applicable law

To the extent permitted by law, Student Support will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or opportunities, arising from or related to your use of Student Support.

10. Your responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use Student Support only for lawful purposes
  • Not attempt to interfere with or disrupt the website or services
  • Not misrepresent your identity or eligibility to access Student Support
  • Indemnify and hold harmless Student Support from claims arising out of your misuse of the services, violation of these Terms, or infringement of third‑party rights

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do:

  • We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page
  • We may provide additional notice, such as a banner on our homepage or an email if changes are significant

Your continued use of Student Support after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Contact information

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle personal information, please contact us through the chat bubble on our website or via our online contact form.
